  2. Who criticized the New Deal and Why? Who: Huey Long -senator of Louisiana, who at first gave full support for the New Deal Why: -turned against New Deal, to win presidency himself

  3. What was criticized in the New Deal and by who? What: Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) -Raised crop prices by lowering production -Regulated by states not Government - Unconstitutional Who: -Supreme Court

  4. What was criticized in the New Deal and by who? What: National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) - Passed in June 1933 • Promoted industrial growth • Established fair practice for individual industries • National Recovery Act Who: Supreme Court

  5. Were any of the critics successful? Supreme Court: Huey Long: -No, in 1935 assassinated by a lone gunman -No, Pres. Roosevelt was able to replace justices of Supreme Court, with supporters (after “court-packing bill” scandal) *FDR gave Congress a court-reform bill, to replace Supreme Court Justices
