  9. Software enables the publication of information needed by the citizens. Software enables us to analyse feedback from the citizens and make decisions appropriately. Data Analytics enables the analysis of massive data available for security or financial crime detection. How is Software helping

  10. Law enforcement agencies are now using Data Analytics in crime detection and prevention, a case in point is the use of Data Analytics to sift through the terabyte of security camera data after the Boston Marathon bombing, with which the bombers were identified within a short time, if these security videos were analysed manually, it could have taken months to get the culprits. Data Analytics for Crime Detection

  11. Data Analytics using open data sources are also used in Anti Money Laundering Software for: • Text analytics. The capability to extract data from text files in an automated fashion can unlock a massive amount of data that can be used for transaction monitoring. • Web analytics and Web-crawling. These tools can systematically scan the web to review shipment and custom details and compare them against corresponding documentation. • Unit price analysis. This statistic-driven approach uses publicly available data and algorithms to detect if unit prices exceed or fall far below global and regional established thresholds. • Unit weight analysis. This technique involves searching for instances where money launderers are attempting to transfer value by overstating or understating the quantity of goods shipped relative to payments. • Network (relationship) analysis of trade partners and ports. Enterprise analytics software tools can identify hidden relationships in data between trade partners and ports, and between other participants in the trade lifecycle. They can also identify potential shell companies or outlier activity. • International trade and country profiling analysis. An analysis of publicly available data may establish profiles of the types of goods that specific countries import and export, flagging outliers that might indicate TBML activity. Data Analytics in Anti-Money Laundering

  12. Street cameras in the UK can capture car registration numbers using Automatic Number Plate Recognition software, determine the owner through the population database, and send debit notes to the owner, some can even interface with bank data to actually debit an offender. Automatic Number Plate Recognition

  13. The National Oil Corporation NNPC has improved its profile by its publication of her MPR, QPR and Annual Production reports. These reports which are on the corporations website has greatly enhanced the transparency of the corporation. Citizens can use the data for their personal and corporate decision making. Communities can identify their contribution to the nation's economy Businesses can use the information for their projections NEITI and NNPC

  14. The introduction of the BVN is another quantum leap in enhancing the integrity of the Banking community's data. The inclusion of biometrics has ensured the not only is the KYC information unique, but is also searchable and traceable. BVN AND KYC

  15. With these developments and initiatives by government, leveraging on software is achieving greater transparency in governance which will lead to trust, reduction in corruption and good governance for the greater good of Nigeria. Our Vision
