  5. Recruiters Look for… • Expertise that connects with the job description • Bullet points that describe the impact you had on the organization • Information that goes beyond a task list and explains the results • The answer to the question: What value will you bring to my organization?

  6. How to Start Pick a project or work experience and write a story Answer the questions: What did I do? How did I do it? Why did I do it? What did I achieve? (include numbers & adjectives)

How to Start • Write your narrative • Edit & condense • -highlight phrases that explain what you did and what your successes were • -Start to edit your answers into short and concise phrases; • -Combine and link phrases that go together • -Be sure all phrases start with a verb • -Add in context – numbers and adjectives

  8. Using Verbs & Adjectives • Always start a bullet point with a strong verb, either present or past tense, not ending in –ing • Add adjectives to help clarify what you accomplished. Be sure not to make the statement a hyperbole • Usually to convey time, ex: completed project in a timely manner ahead of schedule • How you did something, ex: delivered high quality customer service
