Group task – Design your own League of Nations! • You must be able to demonstrate how your LoN will achieve the 4 key aims. • You must be realistic and avoid anachronisms. • You must produce a large diagrammatic poster to show how your LoN will function. • You will have the opportunity to test your LoN in 3 fictional scenarios. • You must be prepared to present your idea, explain it to the class and answer questions on it.

  12. Scenario 1 • Austria has broken the Treaty of St Germain and has started to build battleships for a navy. • How will your League of Nations handle this?

  13. Scenario 2 • Turkish navy ships have blockaded Greece, this means that no supplies leaving or going to Greece can reach it by sea. • How will your League of Nations handle this?

  14. Scenario 3 • There is a serious outbreak of Tuberculosis in Bulgaria. Thousands are dying due to lack of medicine. The Bulgarian government appeals to the LoN for help. • How will your League of Nations handle this?

  28. Woodrow Wilson This man was an idealist and wanted to be remembered as a peacemaker. The League of Nations had been his idea. Yet when it was set up, the USA did not join. Why?
