  2. Introduction The first people to discover things or try things in space are often called the pioneers of space. From the first man on the moon to the person that built the first Rocketship, their all space pioneers. This power point contains information about all the great space pioneers and even some you’ve never heard of.

  3. Neill Armstrong Date of Birth: August 5th 1930 Remembered for: Being the first man on the moon, then saying this is one small step for man, but a huge step for mankind. Neill Armstrong will always be remembered as the first man on the moon. Few people know he served in Korea before enrolling at N.A.S.A to be the first man on the moon.

  4. Edwin”Buzz” Aldrin, Jr Birth: January 20, 1930 Remembered For: Most recognised Apollo 11 photo- standing in the sea of tranquillity Edwin Eugene Aldrin, Jr was called buzz as one of his sisters mispronounced brother as buzzer. It was soon shortened to buzz and was legally changed in 1998.

  5. Charles “Pete” Conrad Birth: June 2, 1930 Remembered for: Won a bet with a mate for $500 when he said “ It may have been a small step for Neill but it’s a long one for me” when he leaped onto the moon. Pete Conrad died in a motorcycle accident on July 8th 1999 at the age of 69.

  6. Alan Bean Born: March 15 1932 Remembered for: Pointing a camera at the sun as he set it up on the moon rendering it useless. Alan Bean was the Lunar Module Pilot on the 2nd space trip

  7. Alan Shepard Born: 18th of November 1923 Remembered for: Smuggling a golf ball onto the moon and hitting it with a makeshift club.: Alan Shepard died of leukaemia aged 75

  8. Edgar Mitchell Born: September the 17th 1930: Remembered for: Being the 6th person to walk on the moon. Edgar Mitchell was originally in the army.

  9. Dave Scott Date of Birth: June the 6th 1932 Remembered For: First person to drive an automobile on the moon Dave Scott was born on Randolph Air Force Base, for which he received his middle name, near San Antonio.

  10. James Irwin Date of birth: March the 17th 1932 Remembered for: First automobile passenger on the moon James Irwin was the first of the twelve men who have walked on the moon to die.

  11. These Men are All Pioneers Of Space They are legends in the world of space!
