MESSAGE POINTS – VOTER REG • Tone = Aggressively Optimistic • Every good story has a villian and a hero, and the path to a happy ending • Don’t be partisan and please don’t preach • Power Message: You + Me = We > They
MESSAGE POINTS – VOTER REG • Some stats to prove the power message: • 46 million 18-29 year old voters (only 39 million seniors) • One in Four eligible voters is under 30 • 12,000 Americans turn 18 each day • 50,000 young Latinos turn 18 each month • There are 16.8 million potential first-time voters this election cycle. (CIRCLE)
MESSAGE – Training vols • Explain their role in the larger campaign • Know the rules • Express urgency • Now is the time (power) • It’s quick, but the impact is long
Promotion – earned media • Let everyone know about your drive: • Newspapers, radio, television • Posters! • Invite media to your event: • Issue an advisory • Prep a volunteer to do press interviews • Message: We are powerful, we are active, we are registering… and we are doing it at x location on y date.
Promotion - online • Let everyone know about your event • Website, Facebook, twitter, email, text, etc • Build momentum for event with social media during the registration drive • Post photos, tweets, and reminders to drive last minute traffic • Include a voter registration link in all communications online.
