Our Mission and Vision Mission Wake County Public School System will provide a relevant and engaging education and will graduate students who are collaborative, creative, effective communicators and critical thinkers. Vision Fred J. Carnage Magnet Middle School will prepare students to reach their full potential and to create life long learners who can adapt to a complex and changing world through the utilization of their gifts and talents.

Arrival School Starts at 7:35 Students will be permitted to enter the building at 7:00 6th Grade students will go to the auditorium or the cafeteria upon arrival Carpoolers will be let out at the carpool lane in front of the building Bus riders will be let out at the bus loop lane and will enter the building from the front Students reporting after 7:35 will need to report to the main office and check in.

  5. Daily Schedule The school day begins at 7:35 with first period Each class period is 48 minutes Homeroom is between first and second periods Three -minute transitions in between classes School ends at 2:20

  6. Grading Scale A= 100-90 B=89-80 C=79-70 D=69-60 F=59 and below

  7. School Lockers Each student will be provided a school locker and lock near their homeroom class Students are not to share their lockers Students who lose their lock, will have to pay a fine to replace the lock Locks from home are not permitted Locks should be on lockers at all times. Students will have specific times when they are permitted to use their lockers.

  8. Lunch Time 6th grade lunch begins at 10:11 Students can bring their own lunch or have lunch provided by the school cafeteria Parents can add money to student’s lunch account Students are not permitted to have out side food delivered to the school Food is not permitted outside of the cafeteria

Dismissal Early Check Out-You will be able to check out students up until 1:45pm in the main office Students are dismissed at 2:20 Students should know how they are getting home each day at 2:20 Walkers and Carpoolers are dismissed first. There are no carpool numbers. Bus riders are dismissed in zones. There is no after school care, please make sure your student is picked up on time (2:20).

  10. Transportation Students are not allowed to ride a bus they are not assigned . NO EXCEPTIONS It is imperative that you and your student know the bus route numbers (bus numbers change, routes don’t) If your child is not assigned a bus please go to https://www.wcpss.net/busrider WCPSS Transportation 919-856-3030

  11. How can parents assist their student (s)? Monitor the agenda for recorded homework DAILY. Regularly check your child’s grades using Powerschool Communicate regularly with teachers for child’s progress. Periodically check notebooks, backpacks, and if your child needs more supplies. Check online supply list. Review and discuss progress reports. Share your email address and any other pertinent phone numbers with your child’s teachers. Participate in your child’s learning. Set the tone for positive achievement. Familiarize yourself with the Code of Conduct, WCPSS policy, and the cell phone policy for our middle school.

Parent /Teacher Communication Contact your student’s teacher via their WCPSS email address Parent/Teacher conferences are set up during teachers’ planning period (7th period) Please email our grade level guidance counselor to set up parent conferences Please do not “drop in” in many cases teachers/ counselors/ administrators may not be available
