Knight’s Day today – 8th grade visit • Campus Tours with Link Crew Leaders • Received SHS Bracelets • Athletic facilities, Shops, Freshmen teachers, Farm, Blue and Gold Café, offices • Students Presentations in gymnasium • Clubs, ASB, Athletics, Art program, AVID, Humanities Academy, gMEC Academy, Theatre Arts • Enrollment Packet given to middle school staff • Humanities Academy application to staff

Enrolling at Soquel High School • You must enroll at Soquel High as we are a different district – Santa Cruz City Schools • Fill out and complete all four forms • Enrollment form (Blue) • Freshmen Course Requests (Green) • Student Health History (Green) • Home Language Survey (White) • Signatures required on ALL forms

  5. Turn in Enrollment forms to your Counselor • New Brighton Middle School • Counselors visit on Wednesday, March 26 • Shoreline Middle School • Counselors visit on Tuesday, March 18 • Privates and Charters • Call Counseling Assistant at 429-3909 x 132 for enrollment appointment with counselor

  9. Sample 4 Year Plan Minimum College Preparatory *The UC and SHS Counseling recommends students take 4 years of core academics.

  10. Additional High School Graduation Requirements • Pass Algebra 1 • Pass PE 9 • Pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

College Readiness continued… A – G Subject Categories • A: Social Studies (2 years) • B: English (4 years) • C: Math (3 years, minimum Algebra 2)* • D: Science (2 years, Lab Science)* • E: World Language (2 years, same language)* • F: Fine Art (1 year, visual performing Art) • G: Elective (1 year, college prep elective) *UC’s recommend additional years of Math, Science, and World Language to be competitive!

  12. Four Year Planning Workshops • Small group workshops to support students with their high school plans • Students and parent/guardians participate in September and October 2014 • Facilitated by your student’s counselor • 35 – 45 minute workshops

Transitioning to High School Attend all classes everyday Communicate with teachers (during class, office hours, and/or emails Check Infinite Campus 2 – 3 times per week Complete all Homework Use your SHS planner daily Join a club, play a sport, try out for a school play, get involved with ASB, sign up for a music class

Expectations for Campus Community • Positive involvement in our school community • Treat everybody with respect • Team player; learn how to work well with others • Hard-working, responsible student • Respect due dates • Teach tolerance on our campus • Communicate with teachers, counselors, and administration
