  2. While on River of Life, expect to work hard! CONSTRUCTION TEAMS Will be working on repairing homes, building wheelchair ramps, and other similar projects. PAINTING TEAMS Will be working on painting the exterior of homes for people who need the paint but can’t afford it. SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAMS Will be doing a variety of work for different groups that serve the needy in Franklin and throughout the greater Nashville area. RIVER OF LIFE INFORMATION River of Life is a series of events held each summer aimed at enabling youth and adults, from many different churches, to come together to express the love of Jesus. We do this by ministering to people through home repairs and improvements. Additionally, each event has the basic purpose of transforming and discipling each participant into a passionate devotion to Jesus. This life of devotion is one of ministry to others, especially to those in need. River of Life events are open to all youth and adults age 6th grade and above. Our vision is that each year the Lord will increase the number of River of Life events, and the churches and people who participate. Our prayer is that one day that there will be River of Life events held in every community. Our burden is that: 1) The love of Christ be expressed beyond the walls of the local church to the people who need it most; 2) that young people and adults alike be transformed and strengthened in their Christian walk, and 3) that racial and economic barriers, dividing the church from many in the community, be removed. Mission Trip What is it? River of Life is a very affordable mission trip for students and adults. The cost per student is $135 and for adults is $75, which includes meals, housings, t-shirts, programming and helps buy some tools, paint etc that are used on the worksites. Who can come? Everyone who has finished 6th grade through 12th grade can be involved in this trip. Bethlehem UMC in Franklin, TN is hosting and there will be students and adults (about 85) from churches from 5 different states. • How River of Life works: • Students and adults are partnered together on work teams to serve on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. • We work on sites and then head to shower at the local YMCAs before returning to the church for some hang out time, dinner, worship and group time. • Sunday is a day of celebration, with worship in the morning, followed by potluck lunch at the church.
