  2. From Primary to Intermediate Things that are the same as 3rd Grade: • Home/school contact • Homework • Occasional projects • Have classroom tools ready (paper, pencils, etc.) Student responsible for self: his/her classwork, behavior, and homework

  3. Reading Workshop • Mini Lesson • Independent Reading • Conferring (with the teacher, partner, and class) • Shared Reading • Read Aloud • Books Clubs

  4. Curriculum Area of Study: Reading • Comprehension and analysis of both fiction and nonfiction selections • Reads for information • Reads for pleasure

  5. Curriculum Area of Study: Reading Increased proficiency in: • Spelling • Vocabulary development • Word analysis skills • Grammar • Conventions • Speaking and listening skills

  6. Curriculum Area: Language • Listens for information • Can carry on a collaborative conversation • Can tell about an experience • Remembers details of spoken conversations • Can ask and answer questions to clarify information

  14. School newsletters, teacher notes and letters will be sent home in the pocket of the planner/agenda. The planner/agenda will be checked daily for parent notes. What About Communications?

  16. A, B, C, D, F grades will be used as well as percentages 1, 2, 3, 4 for work habits and conduct (Excellent, Very Good, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, Unsatisfactory) Student ability for each standard will be included Progress Reports / Report Cards

  17. “The parent is the first teacher, the home is the first school and reading is the first lesson.” We have a partnership.
