  1. Tutorial 1 – Sessions 1.1 and 1.2 Examine the preview picture on pp. Ex 2 and 3. Always watch the shape of your cursor. • p.14 ,#3 Enter just the NUMBERS for Price per DVD, e.g.,15.79 THEN select the range of four cells, and format them by selecting Home tab, Number group, Currency(from the drop-down list). • p.19, fig 1-12 Enter just the NUMBERS of the telephone numbers, e.g., 9896663433. THEN select the range of four cells and format them by selecting Home tab, Number group expansion dialog button, Category=Special, Type=Phone Number. p.46,#6 and p.47,#7 No print.

  2. Tutorial 1 – Review, Cases Always watch the shape of your cursor. • p.49 ,#9There is no cell “15”. Cell addresses are a letter and a number. Sans serif fonts make I5 look like 15 • p.49 ,#10Likewise, there is no cell “16”; it is I6. • p.52, fig 1-34 The figure shows only the values that YOU enter. You will enter formulas in the “Total” rows later, in Steps 6-8. • p.53,#6 TYPO! Your AutoSums will be in D10:F10, D16:F16, D24:F24, and D32:F32. • p.53, #7 MORE TYPOS! Your formulas will be in D18:F18 • p.53, #8 EVEN MORE TYPOS! Your formulas will be in D35:F35

  3. Tutorial 2 – Sessions 2.1 and 2.2 • p.58, #1Be sure to select the Monthly Sales sheet tab. • p.77, #1 The Office theme is the very first one in the gallery – not alphabetically in the “O”’s. Examine the preview picture on pp. Ex 58 and 59. You’re doing formatting which is new to most of you.

  4. Tutorial 2 – Review, Cases 1-3 Review: conditional and other formatting. Review: formulas and formatting. Case 3: conditional formatting. Case 1: formatting, page breaks, ows to repeat when printing. Case 2, Step #4: Typo: Set the height of rows1 to 36.

  5. Tutorial 3 – Sessions 3.1 and 3.2 The “Family Budget” sheet is very detailed. Follow the instructions carefully. In particular, check these frequently-missed formulas at the bottom left. These shortcuts may save you time: • p.140, #2 Just enter 4000 (no comma) • p.159, #2 Just enter 6% (not 6.00%) • p.159, #7 Just enter 200000 (no $ or comma) Don’t wait until the last minute to check in your work. It takes us 3-4 minutes to grade all of the sheets in your workbook.

  6. Tutorial 3 – Review, Cases • p.163, #7f Just enter 395000 (no comma) • p.163,#10 Just enter 300000 (no $ sign or comma) • p.164, Case 1 Read the opening narrative!p.164 ,#3 “Weighted average” is score times absolute reference to weight, e.g., (B17*$C$8)+(C17*$C$9)… • p.164, #5 Typo! The correct function is COUNTA • p.164, #7 Do NOT… return no text by entering "" DO….return no text by entering 0 (Step #9 gets it right). DO Autofill the formula down to F25 • p.166, #3,5,6,10 Don’t waste your time entering $ signs and commas.

  7. Tutorial 4 – Review, Cases • p.223, #2 “…then insert the first 2-D pie chart.” = the first pie chart in the palette of styles. • p.223, #7Lines and markers? See page 207. • p.223, #8Gaps? See page 189. • p.223, #11 Tics and formats? See page 196. • p.223, #13“In cell B32, insert a line sparkline….” B32 is merged with C32, so when you get the error message, edit $B$32:$C$32 in the Location Range box to just $B$32 Do the same in instructions 14 and 15. • p.224, #17 …insert a 3-D line chart. If it’s not 3-D, it can’t have depth.
