  1. Swachh Bharat Mission: Achievements and challenges The Indian government initiated the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make India more hygienic and prosperous. On October 2, 2014, at Rajpath in New Delhi, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the Swachh Bharat Mission or Abhiyan. This initiative aims to improve sanitation conditions nationwide and promote the use of clean toilets by the general public. The Clean India Mission was established as a commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi and by several other names. The mission's obstacles: This initiative's primary goal was to make India "open-defecation free" (ODF) by October 2, 2019. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs oversees Swachh Bharat Urban, while the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation is in charge of Swachh Bharat Gramin, the rural component of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Clean India Mission has high stakes because of the pressure to have India spotless for Mahatma Gandhi Ji's 150th birthday celebration. In 2014, the government of India launched the Clean India Mission to end public urination and improve garbage disposal. Results: The Indian government's Swachh Bharat Mission aimed to improve the percentage of people living in homes with access to a toilet from 39 per cent in 2014 to 95 per cent by the middle of 2019. (Gramin). Since the campaign's inception, they have built approximately 100 million toilets in India's rural and urban areas. A significant success of the Swachh Barat goal was the widespread adoption of new societal norms and practices thanks to several publicity campaigns spread across both traditional and online media outlets. There has been a significant increase in the public's awareness of the pros and cons of outdoor toilets in recent years. Everyone wants to assist the government in getting the designation of "open defecation-free country" since people no longer view it as a personal preference and instead as unsanitary behaviour. The government of India is committed to the clean India objective and is making strides toward making India a more secure, healthy, and sanitary place to live.
