  1. Everything You Need To Know About Myopia Control And Its Types Myopia control, also known as myopia management, is a branch of paediatric optometry dedicated to decreasing the progression of myopia in children. Myopia is also known as short-sightedness or near- sightedness in youngsters. It entails your child's eye doctor prescription particular types of spectacle lenses or glasses, contact lenses, or atropine eye drops to help slow down eyesight deterioration. Because it's desirable to have lower numbers in a prescription, thinner glasses, and avoid frequent changes in glasses prescriptions, myopia control and management are vital. When a child grows myopic (short-sighted, resulting in clouded distance vision), it usually progresses or worsens every few to several months. When a child becomes myopic at an early age, their myopia progresses more quickly, leading to higher levels of myopia. As a result, we should begin myopia management as soon as feasible. But what's the aim of all this commotion? Why do we wish to slow the progression of myopia? Does it matter if they're stronger or weaker if they have to wear glasses anyway? Isn't it possible for them to receive laser surgery as an adult? Myopia control is about protecting eye health

  2. Myopia in children may appear to be nothing more than a pair of glasses. However, when myopia increases in childhood, the eye grows at a faster rate. The eyes are supposed to grow at a regular rate in childhood, up until the age of 10-12. A youngster develops myopic if they grow too quickly or do not stop before the age of 10-12. The retina – the light-sensitive layer lining the back of the eye – extends as a result of this excessive eye growth, increasing the risk of eye illnesses and visual impairment throughout your child's lifespan. Due to abnormal eye growth, a myopic eye is longer or more stretched than a normally seeing eye. The average eye length is 22 to 24 millimetres. When the eye reaches a length of more than 26mm, there is a 25% chance that your child will develop visual problems later in life. The risk increases to 90% if the eye develops to greater over 30mm, which can happen in very high myopia. Controlling myopia entails slowing down this rapid growth of the eyes, ideally to the usual pace seen in childhood. Even at traditionally considered "low" degrees of myopia, there are higher risks of eye disorders as compared to someone who is not myopic. Myopia control is about quality of life Myopia requires the use of spectacles or contact lenses to correct impaired distance vision. If you have lower myopia, however, you are more functional in the mornings before putting on your glasses or contact lenses; you can function tad bit better without them instead of being incapacitated. In addition, if your child decides to have laser surgery to correct their myopia in early adulthood, a lower prescription indicates they are more likely to be acceptable for the procedure and will have better visual outcomes. Types of Myopia Control Orthokeratology (OrthoK aka CRT), Atropine eye drops, Distance-Center Multifocal Contact Lenses, and in some circumstances Bifocal or Multifocal Eyeglasses are the four most generally accepted methods of myopia control treatments. Optometrists utilise a variety of approaches depending on the patient's age, prescription, and need, sometimes combining them for the best results. •Lenses Specific types of contact and eyeglass lenses have been found to effectively control the progression of myopia in various scientific research. Ortho-K lenses, distance-center bifocal contact lenses, and bifocal spectacles are all treatments that have been studied in randomised, controlled, peer-reviewed research to see if they can delay or stop myopia progression. •Orthokeratology

  3. Orthokeratology, often known as OrthoK or CRT, is a method of applying contact lenses-like medical devices to the eye while sleeping. Overnight moderate pressure on the cornea, or surface of the eye, causes transient “moulding” of the outer layers, giving the user “lens-like” effects. The results continue all day, allowing users to see without the use of glasses or contact lenses during the day. The results are remarkable, and people no longer need glasses or regular contact lenses to participate in sports, swim, or do the things they enjoy. •Distance Center Multifocal Soft Contact Lenses Center of Distance Multifocal soft contact lenses are just like conventional soft contact lenses in that they are worn in the same way. In multiple investigations, an optical "trick" in the lens's centre has been proven to halt the progression of myopia. This technique is quickly gaining popularity. •Medication Atropine, which comes in the form of an eye drop or an ointment, has been shown in multiple tests to slow the advancement of myopia. Atropine treatment, which is used once a day, is continued as long as myopia progresses. It is not a cure, but it has been demonstrated to control myopia in many people, and in certain circumstances, it can be used in conjunction with bifocal eyeglasses to improve the result.
