Specialization Areas (Year 4) Entrepreneurship • Thinking of starting up your own business or working for a small start up company? • Learn about financing, how to search for new opportunities • Opportunity for you to start up your own business as part of the Bachelor of Commerce program! International Business • Thinking of working for a large multinational corporation or working overseas? • Learn how to deal with cross cultural differences, international taxes and international marketing • Participate in the International Exchange or field study to complement your international business courses

Specialization Areas (Year 4) Service Management • Thinking of working in the growing hotel or services industry? • Learn about how to manage customer expectations and how to maintain quality control of services • Fields relating to Hospitality: Financial, information, Transportation, Educational, Recreational, Hospitality and Healthcare Management • Thinking of working in the traditional streams of Business including Accounting, Marketing, Finance and Human Resources? • Have the flexibility of taking more specific courses in these area to customize your business degree to get to where you want to be!

Co-op Work Experience • 12 months of paid work experience built into your degree • Apply what you have learned in your class to the real world • Able to work anywhere in Canada • Able to work in your home country to build connections • Opportunity to work in the business subject areas you wish to pursue • Exposure to different industries and work environments • Opportunity to network with future employers • Average salary about $1800 CDN/month

International Exchange • Over 75% of our students go on exchange! • Spend a semester studying in one of our partner institutions in top Universities in Europe, Asia, South America or Mexico • Choose from one of our 74 partner schools in 32 countries! • Take Business classes abroad for 1 semester as part of your degree • Language of instruction will be in English • Open to Canadian and International students in ALL specializations

Admission Criteria Quantitative Requirements (60%): • Average of your completed courses • Minimum of a B- average to be considered (direct admission) • UVIC ENG 115 test Qualitative Requirements (40%): • Resume • Other Experiences (Work Experiences, Leadership Skills, Extra-Curricular Activities, Achievements, Creativity) • Career Aspirations • Computer Literacy

  12. Application Process How can I apply? Prepare documents: • UVic paper application • BCom paper application • Obtain transcripts (translated) • Application fee of CAD $100 • Prepare for UVic English Test When can I apply? • Nov 4 & 5: Come to 2+2 application workshops • Dec 2 or 3: Submit all required application documents on ENG 115 exam day Other Requirements English Test December 2 or 3, 2011 TOEFL/IELTS is not required

Accommodation Homestay • Experience living in Canadian culture by living with a Canadian family • Includes all meals, and furnished room in a home close to campus • $700 CDN/month • http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/elc/accommodation.html#placement Apartments off campus • Live on your own in the city of Victoria • Types vary from a room in a house or shared apartment to a private suite, furnished and unfurnished available • $450-800 CDN/month Bus Pass included in your tuition

Studying in Canada Study Permit • Application forms and a checklist are available on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website • UIBE students should apply to the Canadian Embassy Office • http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/index.asp Temporary Resident Visa • Students from China are required to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (multiple entry recommended) Work Permits • Students will need to apply for appropriate work permits (off-campus, co-op work) in order to work in Canada. This step can be completed when you arrive in Canada.
