  1. Jesus the Master Teacher #3 By Robert C. Archer

  2. He used various forms of logical argument • Deductive reasoning • Example: (Matt. 22:23-33)

  3. He used various forms of logical argument • Reductio ad absurdum • Reductio ad absurdum (Latin: "reduction to the absurd") is a form of argument in which a proposition is disproven by following its implications logically to an absurd consequence. • Example: cast out demons (Matt. 12:22-30)

  4. He used various forms of logical argument • Logical dilemma • The dilemma creates a situation which requires a choice between two equally balanced alternatives. Usually the dilemma is presented to an antagonist as a choice between two solutions to a problem, both of which are conclusive, but neither of which is acceptable. • Example: is John’s Baptism from Heaven or from Men? (Matthew 21:23-27)

  5. He used various forms of logical argument • Argument a fortiori • The Latin phrase argumentum a fortiori denotes "argument 'from [the] stronger [reason]'." For example, if it has been established that a person is deceased, then one can, with equal or greater certainty, argue that the person is not breathing. • Example: God answering prayer (Matt. 7:7-12)
