  1. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [CSS editing session, SF, tuesday] Date Submitted: [Juli 19, 2005] Source:Rainer Hach Company: Nanotron Technologies Address:Alt-Moabit 61, 10555 Berlin, Germany Voice: +49 30 399 954 207 E-Mail:r.hach@nanotron.com Re: [15.4a draft] Abstract: [overview over status and topics under discussion] Purpose: [Structure for CSS editing time slot] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). 2. CSS, SF, tuesday • Overview over actual word doc • Topics under discussion Rainer Hach, Nanotron

  3. Fine adjustment of timing values • Timing values are tightly connected with clock and thus crystal values. • What is the optimum crystal value for our system? Rainer Hach, Nanotron

  4. Clock values and sampling rate Clock and sampling rate values are crucial for power consumption of the system • If the sampling rate is higher than the base clock, an additional PLL is required for synthesizing it • Higher clock increases power consumption of digital circuitry • High sampling rate might decrease power consumption of analog circuitry • Availabilty, price, precision of crystals Rainer Hach, Nanotron

  5. Coding and data rates, reminder • Two data rates are intended: • 1 Mbit/s, which leads to increased robustness against bursty interference (even double payload size requires only half of the time of 15.4 packet) • 250 kBbit/s after coding leads to increased robustness against constant, noise like interference Rainer Hach, Nanotron

  6. Coding and data rates • The biorthogonal ¾ code is a cheap way to realize some coding gain for both data rates. • The performance of the code for the low data should be matched with the acquistion performance => SHR and PHR have to be determined before the code for the low rate ! Rainer Hach, Nanotron

  7. SHR and PHR • Preamble: 8 chirp symbols (48us, const phase) • SFD: 4 chirp symbols (24 us, sequence tbd) • PHR: 8 chirp symbols (8 bit-length field, plenty of margin for coding and reserved bits ) Rainer Hach, Nanotron
