  1. Social Media & Recruiting Efforts (…bo-bo style)

  2. SOCIAL MEDIA + RECRUITING ???

  3. Presentation goals: Purpose of social media [RELATIONSHIPS] How to find talent [CONNECTING] What strategy is best for you?

  4. Two things: Social media is NOT about changing your current HR/recruiting strategy, it is about supplementing it. Social media is about attracting and engaging high quality candidates, NOT hunting them down.

  5. Purpose of social media [RELATIONSHIPS] Social media is relationship media What makes a good relationship? Think of the Web as a party, and orgs using social media as characters at that party… Wallflower Complainer Bragger Buddy

  6. Types of content to post: Company news — Skip the boring stuff – just post news a job seeker would care about Industry gossip — Demonstrate that you’re in the know, but make sure you’re not telling tales out of school Events — Information about upcoming industry conferences or trade shows (if you’re exhibiting, invite people to your booth) Job postings Career advice — This is especially good if it’s specific to the types of candidates you’re trying to recruit Product reviews — Especially if it’s a positive third-party review of your product! Media coverage — Links to any articles where the company is mentioned or featured Local news — Information about the local area in which you’re trying to recruit (it’s easier to get a candidate to relocate if they fall in love with not only the company but the area)

  7. Purpose of social media [RELATIONSHIPS] Connect + Engage = Relationships (strong candidates or org advocates) Websites = one-way comm, but social media = two-way comm (that is the difference) For people to connect and then engage, they must like what they see. What does your company offer?

  8. Purpose of social media [RELATIONSHIPS] Social media must have a purpose! Persuade Inform Entertain

  9. Examples of “being the buddy”: Zappos IBM Engage PR Blendtech Centerline Digital Elon Career Services Eye on iMedia Blog

  10. How to find talent [CONNECTING] Twitter LinkedIn “bo-bo style” = joining groups, talent search paid

  11. What strategy is best for you? Purpose? Content? What do you want to share? Format? Staff to facilitate? Interns? ROI Make goals (e.g. increase web traffic by 10%, increase number of quality applicants by 10%) Google Analytics

  12. Let’s do an example…how about a volunteer?
