In this engaging project, your group will create a Fractions Newsletter that will be published and shared with the entire school community. Working collaboratively, each member will take on a unique role, from designing the newsletter using Word or Publisher to generating fun content such as recipes, jokes, and puzzles related to fractions. Over the course of the term, you'll explore the fascinating world of fractions and express your creativity while learning. At the end, you'll have a published newsletter filled with interesting information!

Introduction You will be creating a FRACTIONS NEWSLETTER which will be published and distributed to students and staff at the school. It will be available to everyone at the end of the term.
Tasks • Putting the sections together and publishing a newsletter allows you to be creative and will give you the opportunity of exploring fractions in a different way. • There will be 6 people in each group to produce their newsletter. • Each group will produce their own newsletter.
Tasks continued Roles: • The Publisher uses Word or Publisher to put all the information together. • The Historian creates a History article. • The Find-A-Word & Jokes Creator creates a Find A Word and a Jokes section. • The Cartoons & Crossword Creator to find Cartoons, and creates a Crossword. • The Chef to find 6 Recipes. • The Fact Finder & Puzzles Creator to find 10 Interesting Facts, and creates a Puzzles section.
Resources & Processes PUBLISHER • 1 person uses Word or Publisher to put all the information together. • The other members of your group will give you their information on a USB stick. It is your job to put the information into either Word or Publisher and produce a great newsletter. • You can come up with a catchy name for your newsletter. • You will have an extra 3 nights to complete the newsletter.
Resources & Processes FIND-A-WORD AND JOKES CREATOR • 1 person creates a Find A Word and a Jokes section. You will also create a Solutions section for your Find A Word and Jokes. • For the Find A Word use the words from your chapter on fractions. Resources & Processes CHEF • You are to find 6 Recipes. • You will find 2 recipes for entrée, 2 for mains and 2 for dessert. • Each recipe must use some fractions, and have a picture to show the finished dish. • Sources must be included.
