The Centro Territoriale Permanente (CTP) in Maglie raised in 1997 and waslocated in the Scuola Secondaria di 1° grado i.e. 1st gradeSecondarySchool.With the birth ofCTPs, Italy gavenewbasisto Life Long Learningeducation, thatstartedwith 150h coursesforworkers. ThesecourseswerethoughttofallintolinewiththoseofEuropeancountries. Besidescoursestoachieve the primary and 1stgradeSecondarySchool - leaving, there are coursetoachieveparticularcompetencies.At the moment CTPs are notindependentschoolsbutthey are subordinate to the 1stgradeSecondarySchool. Teachers are notreallytrainedtoteachtoadults, butusetheircompetence on the subjecttoimprove the adultknowledge. The ItalianMinisterofEducationisthinkingto create CPIAs (Centri Provinciali Istruzione Adulti) thatwouldinglobe the CTPscourses and the eveningcoursesof the 2nd gradeSecondarySchool. A brief history

Objectives • Finding out and analysing the educative needs of the students and surroundings area • Filling the gap to attend secondary school and complete the compulsory school; training to find a better job position; • Learning new languages and techniques; • Developing and strengthening of basic and specific skills; • Working with other educative agencies to build up new route for adult education • Spreading up

Courses • 1st grade Secondary School - leaving exam • Italian for foreigners (also with CVCL Perugia certification) • Information and communication technology (also with ECDL certification) • English, Spanish (also with ESOL certification) • Local traditions • Teacher training • Second chance projects (with 2nd grade Secondary School)

The CTP in Maglie runs courses in Italian for foreign citizens: Linguistic literacy courses Italian courses for linguistic and social integration A1 and A2 level CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) courses B1 and B2 level CEFR courses Preparation courses for the CELI certification (Certificate in knowledge of Italian) in collaboration with Perugia University for foreign students. The CTP hosts level A2 exams in knowledge of Italian for long term residents to obtain the CE resident permit (protocol of agreement with Lecce Prefecture). The CTP offers civic training for non community citizens who have signed the integration agreement. Italian for foregneirs
