Survey Requirements • A title for your survey • Theme Topic (Cell Phone, Computer, Social Networking, etc.) • 10 questions related to your topic • Purpose for survey (Why do you want to know the answers to the questions you ask?) • Remember questions should not collect any personal information. (name, address, phone number, etc.) • Limit your Yes/No questions to 3 or 4.

Possible Survey Topic Ideas • The topic of your Investigation must relate to technology. • Possible Topics could include: • Investigate the use of technology by people. •          How much time do they spend using certain technologies? •          Where do they use it? •          Who else uses it? • Investigate the importance of specific technologies. •          What technologies do people think are the most important? •          Do people prefer one technology over another? •          What technologies do people rely on the most? • Investigate patterns in technology. •          At what age do people start using certain technologies? •          How do people advance (upgrade) from one technology to another? • Investigate what aspects of people’s lives involve technology? •          Where do people use certain technologies? •          What do they use these technologies for?

  6. Hypothesis Statement • Make an association between two or more facts collected from your survey. Form a Hypothesis: • For example: • I hope to see if "the location of a computer in the house determines what people use it for." • The purpose of my survey is to see if "people with full QWERTY keyboards on their phones text more than people without full keyboards" • I would like to see if "the people who play sports tend to use certain types of technology less often."

(Fun, boring, waste of time) • What do you use the most? (Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, I don’t go on) • When do you go on social sites? (Morning, afternoon, night, weekends, all of the above, never • Do you get distracted during homework because of sites? • About how many minutes a day do you go on a social site? 10, 30 minutes, 1-2 hours, 2 hours or more, never • If you aren’t a member on a site, which would you rather a member on? • How much time do you spend on your computer? 1 hour or less, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4 or more, never • At what grade did you become a member on a social site? • Do you text on a phone more than you talk on a social site?
