SafeGuard: Home Security Systems for Onondaga County Families

This program provides home security systems to selected families in Onondaga County, addressing community safety needs. Utilizing innovative surveillance technology, it aims to enhance home safety by continuously monitoring the environment. The system employs Lego-Mindstorms NXT robots, cameras, and mobile connectivity to send real-time audio-visual data to homeowners. By implementing video surveillance, the initiative aims to reduce property crimes and promote a secure living environment. Research shows that effective home security systems can significantly decrease the risk of burglaries and other criminal activities, leading to a safer community overall. The program's evaluation includes statistical methods like Chi-Square and Logistic Regression to measure the impact on participants' sense of security and property security outcomes.

Literature Review • Home security surveillance system using multi-robot system • This article presents a home security surveillance system that increases home safety through continuous scanning and monitoring of home environment. • It uses a Lego-Mindstorms NXT robots, computer and wireless-G cameras. • It captures audio-visual information and sends it to the owner's mobile phone.
