  7. A, an, the • When you see an ‘a’, ‘an’, or ‘the’…. It tells you that a noun is coming up. We use these words, called articles, to announce a noun. Sometimes there is an adjective between the article and the noun. • Example – Thedog belongs to John. • Example –A dirty dog ran down the street.

  8. Be careful • Sometimes there are adjectives that look like nouns. You can turn almost any noun into an adjective. • Example – I am taking math during 4th block. That’s a noun. • Example – I am taking math class during 4th block. That’s an adjective.

  9. Be careful • Titles of books, movies, songs, etc. may contain many words. All the words in the title are a part of one title. • Example – War of the Worlds • You Belong to Me

  10. Practice • 1. Jessie ran down the street. • 2. Transcendentalism was a movement in history. • 3. Winnie the Pooh is one of my daughter’s favorite characters. • 4. Trinity and Kate watched too much television today.

  11. More Practice • 5. Harry threw the ball to his dog for over 60 minutes. • 6. The concept was studied in physics class. • 7. AJ is the captain of the football team even though he hates the sport of football.

  12. Homework • Please complete the worksheet. You will have class time to work on it now – in case you have questions. • It is due tomorrow, but you may turn it in today if you want.
