Numbering System. The center fielder, Shortstop and catcher are responsible in communicating the numbering system With one basic exception, we want to throw the ball: One base ahead of the base runner on a fly ball Two bases ahead of a base runner on a base hit

  1. Numbering System • The center fielder, Shortstop and catcher are responsible in communicating the numbering system • With one basic exception, we want to throw the ball: • One base ahead of the base runner on a fly ball • Two bases ahead of a base runner on a base hit • Three bases ahead of a base runner on an extra base hit

Base Hit to Right – Throw going to 2nd Base Pitcher - Back up the throw coming from right Catcher - Back up 1st base 1B - Move to 1st base 2B - Take the cutoff from right field 3B - Move to 3rd base SS - Move to 2nd base LF - Back up 3rd base CF - Back up the right fielder RF- Catch the ball and throw to 2nd base • LEGEND • Direction to where the ball is hit • Path of the thrown ball • Direction of where the fielders move
