  1. WG governance issues Beth Rasch U.S.A.

  2. Membership • Members selected by their national statistical authority • Membership is voluntary • Country can have multiple representatives but 1o representative must be designated • There will be representation of persons with disabilities on the WG via international organizations representing persons with disabilities • Well-recognized international organizations with formal relationship to NSOs and with expertise in disability statistics may be adjunct members

  3. Membership • In the past, we have updated the mailing list by contacting current WG participants and asking them if they wish to remain on the list • However, this does not allow re-assignment by the NSO and many countries are not currently participating in the WG • Should our practice be to update the membership list annually by contacting directors of NSOs rather than WG members?

  4. Steering committee rotation • Seven representatives • Past, present and future meeting hosts • 4 reps from each major geographical region • Secretariat is non-rotating ex-officio member • Rotating body; < 3 members replaced yearly • Members selected at annual meetings by full WG membership • 3-year terms with option to complete 2nd term if WG membership agrees

  5. Steering committee rotation • First committee will have terms varying from 1-3 years • When electing new member, a balanced regional representation will be sought • Africa / Middle East • North / South America • Asia / Pacific • Europe • Steering committee will select committee chair

  6. Steering committee rotation • This year: • Uganda moves into the future meeting host position • The Netherlands (3rd meeting host) rotates off the SC • Egypt rotates off the SC • We need to select 2 new SC members, trying to maintain a balanced regional representation

  7. Reformulating workgroups • Workgroups formed each time a major work topic is agreed upon at annual meetings • Roughly 3-4 workgroups will exist at any point in time • When the task is completed the group will disband • Responsible for preparing / presenting position papers at annual meetings • Leaders will solicit comments on position papers from the full WG membership via the secretariat • Leaders provide a brief report of progress to SC

  8. Reformulating workgroups • Current workgroups • Workgroup on general measure • Workgroup on implementation • Workgroup on extended measure • Work on methodological issues • Do we need to maintain existing groups, establish new workgroups, and/or reformulate workgroups based on outcomes of this meeting?
