  1. OverSampling Mode Criteria for list of target management CSC 05/04/2006

  2. Initial List of targets • 1000 possibilities for oversampling • Initial list of targets : • For the AP-side: TBD by the APWG • For the ExoSide • Stars known to host a planet from ground based observations • Stars selected as references over the HR diagram  “calibration” of the stellar variability (for improving detection in the LCs). • Priority is left progressively to targets of the OSM CSC – 05/04/2006

  3. Few principles to make criteria • For a given method candidates are sorted following confidence level in the detection • Periodic candidates globally have higher confidence level than single events • Periodic events detected by 2 methods are more secure detections than by a single one • Eclipsing Binaries do not have the same interest as Planetary candidates (second order interest …). CSC – 05/04/2006

  4. Proposed priorities - P1: candidates common to BLS and MID+EPF (periodic events detected by the 2 methods) - P2: candidates obtained with BLS only (periodic event detected by the standard method) - P3: candidates obtained with only MID+EPF (low periodicity – weak transit number) - P4: candidates obtained with only MID (single transit feature) - P5: confirmed Eclipsing Binaries CSC – 05/04/2006

  5. Role of the SOS The role of the Scientific Oversampling Staff (SOS) is: • To check the scientific consistency of the list of targets to be oversampled • To change some of the priorities issued from the software • To attribute the highest priority P0 to some peculiar events CSC – 05/04/2006
