  3. Rules: can 与 may是口语中常用的两个情态动词,它们都可以表示“可能”和“许可”,其后都接动词原形 ,但是can是大众化用词,may 比较正式 。

  4. Rules: How to use ‘can’? 常见句式: 肯定句:主语 + can +动词原形 否定句:主语 + can’t +动词原形 一般疑问句:Can + 主语 +动词原形? 肯定回答:Yes, … can. 否定回答:No, … can’t.

  5. Rules: How to use ‘can’? (1)表示能力,意为“能,会”。 She can speak English. (2)表示可能性,意为“可以”。 The news can be true. (3)表示允许,许可,意为“可以”。 多用于朋友或平辈之间。

  6. Rules: How to use ‘may’? 常见句式: 肯定句:主语 + may +动词原形 否定句:主语 + may not +动词原形 一般疑问句:May + 主语 +动词原形? 肯定回答:Yes, … may. 否定回答:No, … can’t/mustn’t.

  7. Rules: How to use ‘may’? (1)表示可能性。 He may be right. (2)表示许可。 多用于上级或长辈之间。 may 比can 在口气上更加严肃,因此在口语中多用can,而在正式场合多用may,肯定回答一般可以用 Yes, you may.但是显得不够客气,更常用的客气表达是Yes, please.或Certainly.否定回答一般常用的是Please don’t…;No, you can’t; No, you mustn’t.一般不用may not,因为比较生硬。

  11. To show the order of the events, we can use: first then 用在句子开头,用逗号和后面句子隔开,使文章有条理。 next afterwards finally/ at last / in the end
