  2. Bookmark Lexile page • Go to the following link and add it to your Favorites list. • Lexile.com website

  3. Find Titles Needing Lexiling • In Cataloging, use your Power Search and use “Fiction” BUT NOT “Lexile” in the fields. • This gives you a list of fiction titles that need a Lexile level.

  4. Your volunteers can search for levels on the Lexile website and then note the levels on the list. You can work straight from your cataloging page if you prefer. Working List 620

  5. Start Lexiling • Perform a search by Call Number starting with FIC AAA.

  6. Select a title

  7. Search for title on website Speed hint Save time by searching for author with multiple titles.

  8. Speed Hint If you are Lexiling new books, you can scan the ISBN code directly into the search.

  9. Lexile tips • If a title search does not produce results, try a search using author’s name. • You can use this search to find titles of books in particular levels for ordering purposes. • It is not necessary to capitalize to get results.

  10. Note the Lexile level

  11. In Cataloging, click on Edit

  12. Click on Insert

  13. Type in “521”, then Enter Or click here

  14. Enter Lexile level, click on “Insert Subfield”, type “b”, Enter.

  15. Click on “No” or hit “Enter”.

  16. Type “Lexile.” Speed Hint Highlight “Lexile.” then Copy (control-C). On future records, paste (control-V).

  17. Click on first indicator box and type “8”, then Enter.

  18. You are done. Click on “Save”then “Close”.
