  3. Lesson Objective • All of you should be able to explain different uses of biometrics. • Most of you should be able to outline the steps taken in any kind of biometric check. • Some of you should be able to describe advantages and disadvantages of the use of biometrics

  8. Authentication • Authentication is the process of determining whether someone or something is, in fact, who or what it is declared to be.  • 98 millions users in facebook are not who they claim to be.

  9. How can we perform authentication • Individually: Write a list of all the was in which a user can be authenticated to be given permission to access a room. (3 min)

  10. Collecting information of biometrics • Individually: Watch the biometrics video in Laboratorio_Uno folder. • While watching the video make a list of all the uses, advantages and disadvantages mentioned in the video. (8 min)

  11. Checking results • In groups you will check your lists from the videos. • After you will need to explain one way in which biometrics may be used. It needs to be different from those mentioned in the video. • The one in RED will be in charge of writing the explanation and the one in GREEN will grade it.

  12. Explain • An explanation requires explained reasons: • 1 mark: A limited response that indicates very little understanding of how/when to use biometrics. A description of the scenario. • 2-3 marks: A reasonable description of how biometrics would be used in the scenario. Reasons of why to use biometrics in the specific scenario are missing or just identified • 4 A clear detailed explanation (with reasons) of why the biometrics should be used in the specific scenario.
