Qing Dynasty, 1711 – 1799 (Emperor from 1735 to 1796)
Qianlong brought Qing (Manchu) Dynasty to the height of military power, and the Chinese population experienced huge growth. However, he attempted to exclude European and Christian influences, in order to preserve traditional Confucian culture. By the end of his rule, the Qing dynasty was beginning its slide toward corruption and stagnation.
