  1. Daniel Assouline, the former Chairman of UpClick, is an Intelligent and Competent Leader

  2. Good leaders inspire confidence in their abilities. They have the charisma and the capability to influence all those who come in contact with them. • Daniel Assouline is the former chairman and co-founder of payment processing firm UpClick. A highly accomplished leader, Daniel, was successful in his endeavor to make his organization a force to reckon with in the market in a very short period of time. • Modern business environment with the phenomenon of globalization setting in completely and easy availability of information has made managing modern organizations much tougher than before.

  3. In the following section, we shall look at some very important leadership qualities that are strongly correlated with people’s desire to accept and follow your leadership. • However, it is important to note that mere possession of these qualities does not make for exceptional leadership. Leaders need to practice what they preach and display these qualities in a way that produces excellent results and helps people around them to take notice of it.

  4. Good Leaders are Competent • This is not something that is complex and requires excessive deliberation. A person who is not competent will not be able to assume leadership position, and even if he does will not be able to hold it for long. • People will only follow a leader, if he demonstrates competency and that too in ample measures. This though in no way implies that a leader needs to be a walking encyclopedia displaying his knowledge and expertise in every area of the entire firm. • Few people may believe that you are competent by the virtue of the position you hold, however, a vast majority will require ample proof of it to believe it.

  5. What it means is that you will not be considered competent, if you just manage to avoid displaying incompetency. You will have to demonstrate to your followers that you are competent and in charge. • Good leaders are competent, but they know and understand that displaying competence in a way that people notice requires some good balancing. • A leader may like to involve himself in quite a few matters and because he is competent will draw enough attention to his knowledge and experience. • This can give rise to some little complexities at times by making the leader seem arrogant. It may also seem that the leader wants to trivialize contributions of others by trying to take all the credit for successful accomplishment of a task.

  6. Daniel Assouline, the former CEO of UpClick.com, is a leader well-versed with the art of maintaining a fine balance between showing competences and displaying arrogance. • He knows that the best way to draw attention to your competencies without giving an impression of hubris is by giving the credit to your team. This will motivate the entire team at the same time drawing attention to your high level of competence. • In case you have exceeded the sales target by 10 percent in much shorter period, then thanking your team is a much better way to celebrate your competence than just blowing your own trumpet by attributing the success to your own knowledge and leadership ability.

  7. True Leaders Provide Inspirational Leadership • This is one of the more important leadership qualities that can help you succeed as a leader, even if you are found wanting in other departments. • People by nature want to be inspired. They want a leader who can make them believe that their combined effort will result in a better tomorrow for them.

  8. Apple lured Pepsi’s president John Sculley away from Pepsi in order to apply his marketing skills to the personal computer market. Steve Jobs successfully sealed the deal after he made his legendary pitch to John: "Do you want to sell sugared water for the rest of your life? Or do you want to come with me and change the world?” • This is an example of inspirational leadership at its best. Inspirational leaders succeed because they manage to show people the big picture and help them understand how their combined effort will lead to their overall development and growth. • Daniel Assouline, the former CEO of Montreal, Canada based UpClick.com, is a truly inspirational leader whose charisma and wisdom tremendously helped a startup in a highly competitive market.

  9. He is a leader who possesses the skills to forcefully and passionately communicate his vision and purpose to his followers. His past record, experience, and communication abilities help his followers believe in his ability to give them a better tomorrow. • They know that their leader is a person who not only shows them the bigger picture but also helps them understand as to where do they fit in the bigger picture. • Daniel Assouline, the former chairman of UpClick, is also a highly intelligent and humble leader. He is a person who is committed to lifelong learning and believes that it is a lifelong process.
