  1. COMBINING TWO SURVEYS GIVEN: THIS METHOD IS A TOOL TO USE TO COMBINE POINTS FROM TWO SURVEYS OF THE SAME AREA. THERE MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF TWO, PREFERABLY THREE OR MORE COMMON POINTS FROM BOTH SURVEYS, PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO BENCHMARK ELEVATIONS. NOTE: WITH NEW DATA COLLECTORS USING RESECTION IS A MORE EFFECTIVE MEANS TO ADD POINTS TO AN EXISTING SURVEY.

  2. WITH DRAWING OPEN, CREATE A POINT GROUP OUT OF SURVEY POINTS. POINTS POINT MANAGEMENT POINT GROUP MANAGER CREAT POINT GROUP RENUMBER THIS POINT GROUP IF THE SECOND GROUP OF POINTS WILL SHARE THE SAME NUMBERS POINT EDIT POINTS RENUMBER AT NUMBER ADDITIVE FACTOR SELECT A NUMBER, IE; 100 OR 1000 TO ADD TO ALL POINTS IN THAT GROUP.

  3. DOWNLOAD 2ND FIELD BOOK AND IMPORT IT TO THE DRAWING CREATE A NEW POINT GROUP FROM THE 2ND SURVEY POINTS MOVE SECOND SURVEY SO THEY AR NOT CLUSTERED ON THE TOP OF THE 1ST SURVEY, BUT FIRST POINTS POINT SETTINGS UPDATE CHECK ALLOW POINTS TO BE MOVED AND UPDATE POINT DATABASE…… OK TO MOVE SURVEY: POINTS EDIT POINTS MOVE SELECT G FOR GROUP

  4. SELECT THE SECOND SURVEY GROUP TO MOVE OK SLIDE THEM AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL SURVEY TYPE IN ALIGN AT THE COMMAND LINE ENTER AT SELECT ITEMS TO BE MOVEDDRAW A BOX AROUND THE SECOND SURVEY GROUP OF POINTS, (THEY SHOULD BE PHYSICALLY SEPARATE FROM THE 1ST SURVEY) AT SELECT FIRST SOURCE POINT PICK COMMON POINT FROM SECOND SURVEY BY POINTING AND SELECTING THE POINT. AT SELECT FIRST DESTINATION POINT POINT AND SELECT THE SAME POINT ON THE 1ST SURVEY CONTINUE PROCESS (FOLLOWING COMMAND LINE) UNTIL 2 OR MORE COMMON POINTS HAVE BEEN UNITED, HIT ENTER. YOU MAY BE PROMPTED TO SCALE OBJECTS, SELECT NO DESCRIPTIONS OF SECOND SURVEY WILL BE AT AN ANGLE. TO RE-ORIENT THEM HORIZONTALLY:

  5. POINTS REMOVE POINTS FROM DRAWING SELECT YES SELECT G FOR GROUP AND SELECT THE TURNED GROUP POINTS INSERT POINTS TO DRAWING SELECT G FOR GROUP AND SELECT THE SAME GROUP THAT WAS REMOVED. POINTS SHOULD COME IN HORIZONTALLY. THE POINTS SHOULD BE IN THE RIGHT LOCATION. BEFORE THE CONTOURS ARE RE-ESTABLISHED, YOU WILL HAVE TO REBUILD THE SURFACE BASED ON THE TWO NEW POINT GROUPS OR BUILD A NEW SURFACE WITH THE TWO NEW POINT GROUPS.
