  2. The Rationale Time for student organizations and co-curricular activities to meet during the school day so that students can become more involved and connected to school. Time for students to receive meaningful intervention, enrichment, make-up work, and remediation. Time for students to work with student groups, study independently, do research, participate in fitness activities, complete homework, or read. Time for teacher teams to plan for intervention and enrichment during the school day and differentiate instruction based on student needs as well as teacher expertise.

  3. Daily Schedule Bear Block 10:20 – 11:00 **PM SCTC/JROTC/CGS students can leave Bear Block at 10:45 for lunch **AM SCTC/JROTC/CGS students will arrive late to Bear Block (10:40).

  4. Go to http://bearblock.spotsylvania.k12.va.us (Link can be found on school website and accessed from home!) Log in using your network user name and password.

  5. The calendar shows all available events.

  6. Daily events include: • Computer labs • Library computers • Library study (*group study available, see Mrs. Keith for sign-up) • Weight room • Various gym activities

  7. Additional events include: • Club/organization meetings • Grade-level meetings • College visits • Counseling workshops • Assemblies

  8. If you are already signed up for an event you will see it in blue. Orange events are events that are available.

  9. Click on the name of the event you wish to sign up for.

  10. The screen will show you the event information. To sign up, click

  11. Now the event appears in blue.

  12. If you wish to cancel your enrollment, just click on the event again and choose

  13. If you see “Bear Block” and a teacher’s name, you have been selected by that teacher.

  14. If you wish to spend Bear Block getting assistance from a teacher you must talk with that teacher and ask them to assign you. Students are not able to sign-up for a teacher.

  15. If you have been selected by a teacher during Bear Block you must go to that teacher. You cannot cancel your assignment to a teacher.

  16. Daily Bear Block registration ends at 7:30 each morning. If you do not sign up for an event and are not assigned to a teacher, you will automatically be placed in a study hall. If all study halls are full, you may be placed in the commons.

  17. All students are expected to be in their designated locations during Bear Block. Any student not in their assigned location will be considered skipping and face consequences as outlined in the disciplinary rubric.
