Opening Remarks The future holds more changes for telecommunications as the forces of change in technology bring Cloud, Mobility, Consumerization, Big Data, and other network impactful technologies to the forefront HB 2738 requires DIR to conduct a study to identify legacy systems currently maintained by state agencies SB1, Article 1, Rider 14 requires DIR conduct a study to determine if the use of tablet computers versus personal computers by state agencies and higher education will result in cost savings for the state

Technology Trends – Some Interesting Facts (Source:gartner) By 2015 80% of handsets in mature markets will be smart phones Cloud will be the center of digital lives, for apps, content and preferences. Services become more important; devices less important. Cloud, packaged analytics and big data accelerates in 2013, 2014. Mobile devices will have access to the data, supporting business decision making. By 2014 there will be more than 70 billion app downloads from app stores every year. Also by 2014, most organizations will deliver apps to workers via private application stores.

  6. Closing Thoughts DIR’s Goal Is To Provide IT Solutions That Are Customer Focused, Cost Effective, Sustainable, And Agile. DIR Must Work Closely With Agency Customers To Ensure Transparency and Proper Governance. The Solutions of Today Are Likely Not The Solutions of Tomorrow… The Rate Of Change Is Fast and Vast!
