Types of Plagiarism Global “Lifting” an entire speech (or article, paper, etc.,) from someone else, and claiming it as your own Patchwork “Lifting” portions of two or more speeches (or articles, papers, etc.), and putting them together as your own creation Incremental “Borrowing” phrases or sections from other speeches (or articles, papers, etc.), and failing to give credit to the Original writer or source

  5. Guidelines for Ethical Listening • Be courteous and attentive • Avoid prejudging the speaker • Maintain the free and open expression of ideas
