  10. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE • 1.P.O.H – PERIODICAL OVERHAULING • FOR COACHES ONCE IN 12 MONTHS TO 24 MONTHS AT NOMINATED WORKSHOPS OF ITS OWNING Rly. • FOR WAGONS ONCE IN 4 Yrs TO 6 Yrs AT WORKSHOPS WITH ALL FACILITIES TO UNDERTAKE P.O.H.

  11. I.O.H. Intermediate Overhauling For Coaches – Once in 6 Months or After earning 1.5 Lakh K.M.after its P.OHCarried out at Nominated Coaching depot with all facilities to undertake I.O.H.

  12. ROH–Routine overhauling for wagonsAfter 21 to 24 months from POH date ROH will be undertaken at nominated Goods Depots equipped with facilities to undertake.Complete lifting through examination of all components, UT , repairing, replacing, reconditioning and assembling and testing to the required standards

  13. Primary maintenance of Coaches: After POH each coach is allotted to a parent Depot .The coach will be attached to a rake link. The rake will cover its link and after working several trains the rake will come to its base depot for P.M.where all facilities likePit line, store, testing facilities, trained staff and sufficient time available for attending maintenance activities.

  14. After PM the rake will have to work for 2500 kms run or 4 days in several links. Single, Return or Round BPC will be issued for this rake from the P.M Depot. Apart from safety attentions the periodical schedules will be attended by the PM depot for the coaches of the rake.

  15. Secondary Maintenance: At the other end of the journey of a rake an examination of safe to run and attention will be given to the rake which is called S.M. No schedule attention will be paid but all safety items including brake testing will be carried out during S.M.

  16. Safe to run Examination: At nominated places Mechanical staff with all required facilities are deployed to undertake this task. They will attend Rolling in Examination, cursory check, feeling of axle boxes and other safe to run examination for trains running.

  17. Incoming Examination : This is common for all trains (i.e) Passenger and Goods. Rolling in examination of the entering trains stock by sitting at both sides of the reception line and closely watching the movement of each coach/wagon for any defects, unusual sound, movement etc.

  18. Immediately on arrival axle boxes were felt for detecting warm box/Hot axle, visually examine all parts on both sides for any defect including wheel, its defects and mark sick if it is to be attended in sick line.Issued R.S 16.Sick memo to Traffic for detaching and placing in sick line.

  19. After incoming examination in case of coaching the rake will be placed in pit line for under gear examination and attention. In case of Goods the wagons will be placed for unloading/loading. After this the wagons will be grouped as a formation and offered for train examination.

  20. Goods train Examination:The formation will be intensively examined and Brake Power Certificate will be issued as under up to 4500 kmsIntensive BPC for End to End running -do- for Closed Circuit rake -do- for Vacuum brake train up to 800 kms.

  21. Standard forms: T 431- After grouping the wagons/coaches as a formation on nominated line the YM/SM will prepare this and send to Mechanical representative for examining and certifying the train for run. This will be in three parts A,B,C.Part A&B will be filled up by YM and sent to SE/JE C&W.This will contain the details as below.

  22. FormNo.T 431. A & B PortionsDate. Train No. Line. No.No of Wagons/Load:Destination:Formation ready at: Hrs Date:Train due to start at:Time/Date of sending: Time/Date Received bySE/JE/C&W.

  23. Safety rules. On getting the T431, JE / C&W will take B & C part and sign in A &B part duly mentioning the time, date of receipt of the formation memo.He will protect both sides of the line in which the formation is available and start examining the wagons and attending all required attentions for safe travel of the wagons in the formation.

  24. On completion of the formation checking and attention JE / SE C & W will fill up the part B & C in which the time of checking completed/ date with necessary remarks such as “Formation ready for despatch” or if any wagon is found having defect which can be attended only in sick line necessary RS 16(Sick memo) will be issued for detaching the wagons .

  25. Out going examination and issue of BPC. • In case of Coaching the rake fully attended in all respects in pit line during PM / SM will be placed in PF for occupation of Passengers. • Outgoing Train engine should be attached on to the formation at least 15 mts in advance of the booked departure. • The brake system ( Vacuum or Air ) of the locomotive and the formation to be connected and minimum required level of vacuum / Air pressure to be created for the whole train. • After ensuring safety a joint certificate BPC will be issued to the Driver of the train by JE/SE C&W.

  26. Goods Train • On attaching the outgoing Locomotive the brake system of the Locomotive and Formation is to be connected and after getting minimum required pressure levels and ensuring the safety conditions B P C will be issued to the train. • 1. Intensive BPC for Empty trains. • 2. End to End BPC for Loaded Trains. • 3. Closed circuit BPC for special type C C Rakes.
