Challenges • No definitions of the term “child abuse and neglect” in legislation – no official statistics on victims of child abuse and neglect • Late detection of child abuse and neglect cases • Physical and emotional abuse against children on the part of their parents is allowed by the society • A lot of agencies, their territorial segregation, insufficient interagency coordination • Lack of professionals with relevant knowledge and skills • Children’s interests unmet during investigation XIXth ISPCAN International Congress on Child Abuse and Neglect September 09 – 12, 2012 Istanbul, Turkey
