  3. An advice columnist 建议专栏作家 • – works for a magazine. • reads letters from readers and understand their problems. • gives them advice by writing advice letters. What must an advice columnist be good at?

  4. answer Read the first letter and answer questions • Why does the father write the letter? • What problems does the father think • his son have? He wants to ask for some help with his 16-year-old son.

What problems does the father think his son have? ●Herefuses to do everything his parents ask him to do. ●Heis rude to them. ●Herefuses to spend time with them. ●sometimes he acts as though he doesn’t love his parents at all. ●Herefuses to do his homework and wastes time watching DVDs and listening to foreign music. ●Hespends too much time in Internet cafes playing games and surfing the internet.

(如果我是你,我会…) ●I advice you (not) to ... ● I suggest/advice that you (should) (not) … ●It would be better if you … ●… Advice to the son ●have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents. ●tell them you love them but you also need their respect. ●learn to keep calm and act like an adult. ●accept your father’s requirements when they are right. ● learn to think from your father’s angle(角度). ●… Pair work Wourk in pairs , practise giving advice to the son. Examples: If I were you I would tell them I love them but I also need their respect. Why not learn to think from your father’s angle?
