Because…. • They fail to face the realities in terms of labour issues • They fail to invest in, and clearly identify, their own corporate culture • Individuals lack personal values – this impacts the group • Low social IQ; including rampant cultural incompetence= poor communication • Decline in general service standards • Teamwork and being accountable to others is not valued • “Culture” is not clearly defined; this is an issue for attracting, recruiting, and hiring www.culturalcompetence.ca

  28. Why does Social Intelligence have to do with Leadership? Social intelligence impacts knowledge generation and sharing. Relational Wealth or Social Capital are terms used to describe an organizations ability to develop, maintain and sustain networks of people that support knowledge and facilitate complex processes, especially innovation and collaboration. Leaders, then, are more likely to encourage knowledge creation and innovation if they possess social intelligence, that is, they have good relationships with others; they foster teamwork and mutually beneficial relationships. www.culturalcompetence.ca

  29. Collective intelligence emerges when a group of people work together effectively. Collective intelligence can be additive (each adds his or her part which together form the whole) or it can be synergetic, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
