Where is Kobe? • Last PIC in Japan: 1987 in Tsukuba Kyoto Tokyo • This time: in the vicinity of Kobe • A main city in Kansai region,which is the centre of West Japan
Kansai region: closer look • Main cities:Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe • Direct flights available to Kansai Airport • From Europe, North America and Asia • 65min Shuttle-bus to Kobe city centre About 50km
Why in September? • More new results in PIC • Large collaborations show most of the results world-premiere in summer conferences→ Interesting review talks in PIC • September is still a holiday season for universities

Weather • September: day/night 29/22C, humid, may rain • Early June: day/night 26/20C, humid, rainy • Remember that you get used to hot weather in September. • Very hot and humid in July and August
