  3. York Region Demographics Fastest growing community in Ontario with over 1 million residents (Census 2011) Approximately 10 – 12,000 recent immigrants arrive each year. (CIC landing data) In 2006, 43% of York Region residents were immigrants; growing to 55% by 2031 All the services you need…All in one place!

Immigrant population accounts for about 60% of growth between 2001 and 2006 46,460 immigrants settled in York Region between 2001- 2006. 2 in 5 residents are now visible minorities Third highest number of recent immigrants in the GTA.

Welcome Centres in York Region are a result of: York Region’s Human Services Planning Coalition hosted a consultation process under York Region’s Inclusivity Action Plan (IAP)in January 2005. Welcome Centre Working Group established to create a Service Delivery Model under one roof to support an immigrant’s need for information, assistance and resources Five lead agencies have taken the concept, developed by this larger group of 26 agencies, forward

Welcome Centre Overview Since April 2006, the five lead agencies have ‘fine-tuned’ the Service Delivery Model,determined budgeting and applied for and received primary funding from Citizenship & Immigration Canada The first Welcome Centre officially opened in Vaughan on June 26, 2007 Four other Welcome Centres opened in Fall 2010 All the services you need…All in one place!

Case Management System Case Manager is a familiar, ‘trusted’ face who assists the client to build their individualized settlement plan Five Centres linked by a secure Case Management System All information collected is confidential Each client has only one file that is accessible from any location – tell story once File is updated regularly by Case Manager who keeps track of client’s progress All the services you need…All in one place!
