Intervention and Extension Programs • GATE/Advanced: To provide an opportunity to interact with gifted peers in a learning environment, GATE/Advanced students are placed in cluster classes which are available in both Language Arts and Mathematics at each grade level. In addition, GATE exploratory classes are scheduled throughout the year to provide enrichment opportunities. • Resource Program: Students requiring Specialized Academic Instruction, will have their needs met through collaborative and pull-out models. • Special Day Classes: Available in all core subjects for identified students. • Language Arts Intervention: An additional period of language arts skills support is an available option in lieu of an exploratory class. • Mathematics Intervention: An additional period of math skills support is an available option in lieu of an exploratory class.

Examples: Home Economics, Financial Literacy, Introduction to Foreign Language, Careers, Journalism, Art, Computers, Ecology, Character Education, Credit Recovery, etc.

PRIDE/XTIMEPersonal Responsibility in Developing Excellence In addition to extra curriculum support, once a week (on Monday) students will have an advisory period that covers: - Rachel’s Challenge - Bullying - Internet Safety - Plagiarism/Academic Integrity - Self-Esteem Building - No Dissin’ Day - Character Education

  23. Lunch *Lunch Windows/Carts in Cafeteria - If you don’t get your first choice, there are always plenty more from which to choose. Students can always bring their lunch. *Seated for first 10 minutes to encourage eating lunch *20 minutes after lunch for restrooms, socializing, playing *This is the only break during the day - No recess

Cell phones Students do not need cell phones, but they may bring cell phones to school Cell phones should be turned off and kept in back packs to avoid class disruptions and/or temptation to check for calls or texts during the day Visible cell phones will be collected and available in the office for parent pick-up Refer to District Cell Phone Policy
