  2. Matthew 16:13-17 (NKJV) 13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" 14 So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven…

  3. Matthew 16:18-19 (NKJV) 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosedin heaven.“- cf. Ephesians 2:19-20

  4. The Church Jesus built had a beginning (Acts 2)

  5. Acts 2:36-39 (NKJV) 36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall wedo?"38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

  6. Acts 2:40-41, 47b (NKJV) 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." 41 Then those who gladlyreceived his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 47 … And the Lord added to thechurch daily those who were being saved.

  7. CHRIST BUILT A WORLDWIDE CHURCH: Christ the Only Leader Baptized & added to His worldwide church.

  8. Baptism into Christ does NOT add a person to any specificlocal church (group of Christians).

  9. Acts 9:26-28 (NKJV) 26 And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28 So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out.

  10. Romans 16:16 (NKJV) Greet one another with a holy kiss. Thechurches of Christ greet you.

  11. Acts 2:42 (NASB) And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.- cf. Matthew 28:20; John 14:15

  12. 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIV) Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

  13. Philippians 3:17 (NKJV) Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

  14. 2 John 9-11 (NKJV) 9 Whoever transgressesand does not abide in the doctrine of Christdoes not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

  15. Colossians 3:14 (NASB) And beyond all these things put onlove, which is the perfect bond of unity.

  16. John 17:17-21 (NASB) 17 "Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.18 "As Thou didst send Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 "And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified intruth. 20 "I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all beone; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I inThee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me.

  17. 1 Corinthians 1:10 (ESV) I appeal to you, brothers,by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be nodivisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.- cf. Ephesians 4:1-6

  18. Many churches involve themselves in seemingly “good works” yet don’t stop to consider: “Is it authorized by Christ?”

  19. A church of Christ is committed to fulfilling the spiritual mission given to her by Christ! • Evangelism (Soul winning for Christ) (Mat. 28:18-20; Phil. 4:15-18). • Edification (building up members in Christ) (1 Cor. 14:26; Eph. 4:11-16). • Benevolence for needy Christians(Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-37; 6:1-7; 11:27-30; Rom. 15:26; 1 Cor.16:1-4; 2 Cor. 8-9; 1 Tim. 5:16).

  20. Many local churches only think about what pleases themselvesin worship. (e.g. Cain, Genesis 4:3; Hebrews 11:4)

  21. John 4:23-24 (NASB) 23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipersshall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

  22. First and foremost belong to The Church Jesus Built!

  23. Revelation 3:4-5 (NKJV) 4 Youhave a few names even in Sardiswho have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. - cf. Hebrews 12:23
