Embedded Assessment 1 Your assignment is to write a multi-paragraph reflective essay about a significant personal experience that involves the pursuit of happiness, being sure to describe the experience and your immediate response to it, as well as to reflect on the significance of the experience.

  9. Exemplary Essay • The essay • uses diction, syntax, and other stylistic devices that are notable and appropriate for the subject, purpose, and audience • contains few errors in standard writing conventions

  10. Embedded Assessment 1 Product • Create a poster with at least 4-5 requirements for the essay. • Use the description and the rubric to help you. • Make a design. No bullet points! • Around the perimeter of the poster, brainstorm topic ideas.

  11. Unpacked Embedded Assessment 1 • Describe a personal experience and convey its significance to the reader. • Choose an organization structure that includes an event, a response, and a reflection. • Effectively employ consistent tone, purposeful diction, and vivid details. • Present a final draft that demonstrates evidence of the writing process.

  12. Unit Four: The Pursuit of Happiness • In your writing section of your binder, answer the following question: • What makes you happy? Really think about this. When are you the happiest? What are you doing? What is going on around you? Be specific. • Share with your table.
