  1. 1 Peter 1.13-19 today’s reading from god’s word:

  2. 13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 1 Peter 1.13-14

  3. 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 1 Peter 1.15-17

  4. 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 1 Peter 1.18-19

  6. Too many believe they can earn their salvation. Some just “trust the Lord,” and refuse all spiritual responsibility. A Present Dilemma:

  7. We desperately need a sound understanding of salvation!

  8. Our appreciation of salvation should express itself in total commitment.

  9. Many are becoming materialists, sensualists, or both. Many believe we can get by with the minimums of service. A Present Dilemma:

  10. 1 Peter 1.3-5:The Great Blessings Given Every Christian

  11. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1.3 Note the stress on our hope.

  12. 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, Note the inheritance. 1 Peter 1.4

  13. 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Note the protection. 1 Peter 1.5

  14. 1 Peter 1.10-12:The Beauty of These Things

  15. 1 Peter 1.13-19:There is a price to be paid for these blessings!

  16. 13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1.13 Salvation involves mind and body.

  21. 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, We must realize the seriousness of our commitment. 1 Peter 1.17

  22. 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot 1 Peter 1.18-19 We must live in awareness of what our salvation cost Jesus.
