  1. LTG Mary Legere Army’s Senior Intelligence Officer

LTG Mary Legere is the U.S. Army’s Senior Intelligence Officer, and the Principal Advisor on Intelligence and Security Policy, Program and Operations for the Secretary of the Army and Army Chief of Staff. She is the fourth female Three Star General in the Army’s 240-year history, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in April 2012.

  3. Four years later, she oversees the global operations of the Army’s 58,000 person Intelligence Corps. The primary mission of Military Intelligence Corps, often referred to as MI, is to provide accurate and synchronized intelligence and electronic warfare support to military commanders. MI personnel produce intelligence for both the Army, and for sharing across the national intelligence community.

  4. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, and raised in New Hampshire, where she moved to at the age of five. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, she received her military commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in May of 1982 and proceeded to the Army’s Intelligence Center and School at Fort Huachuca, Arizona for training.

  5. Her military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced courses, and Masters degrees from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Masters in Military Science, and the U.S. Army War College, Masters in Strategy.

  6. In 2013, she received an honorary doctorate from the University of New Hampshire, in recognition of her over thirty years of service and selection as the Army’s Senior Intelligence Officer.

  7. LTG Mary Legere is married to Colonel Paul Legere (retired), who is a former Army officer and like his wife, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. The couple resides in Virginia where they enjoy spending time with their family and friends, traveling, participating in outdoor sports, and taking care of their dogs.
