Brief History Emerging Leaders Initiative (ELI) was designed in 2007 to train the staff of Campus Crusade in Southern & Eastern Africa (SEA) First Cohort 2008-2010 (for SEA) Second cohort: 2010-2013 (SEA and West Africa) Third cohort: 2014-2016 (SEA and West Africa) Most graduates are at national, continental and global leadership positions 11-May-17 GATL

Description Duration: a-two-year intentional and intensive transformational leadership training and coaching of carefully selected emerging leaders (25-35 years old) Focus: character development, spiritual formation, and critical skills of personal and organizational leadership, resource mobilization and leadership development Structure: three modules of 10-day residential and one module of online 11-May-17 GATL

Courses Stewardship of self Holistic personal leadership (calling here) – 4 credits Spiritual and character formation – 4 credits Research and writing (Handbook needed; pre-course work) Advanced self-learning I: (20-25 pages) personal leadership journey and development plan – 2 credits Stewardship of mission Organizational & cross-cultural leadership – 4 credits Strategic leadership – 4 cr. Advance self-learning II: (20-25 pages) missional immersion and evaluation (audit of an organization with best practice, integration of stewardship of mission, critical evaluation and application) – 2 credits 11-May-17 GATL

Courses Stewardship of people Biblical servant leadership – 4 credits Leadership development and mentoring – 4 credits Advanced self-learning III: (20-25 pages) write your journey of mentoring the three emerging leaders you have been working with in the last 18 months, integrate your work with what you have learned through the two courses – 2 credits Stewardship of resources Introduction to holistic societal transformation – 4 credits Resource development & networking in a global environment – 4 credits Advanced self-learning IV: (20-25 pages) in groups of 3 (from different organizations), develop a partnership project, write a grant proposal and raise funds ... write a reflection paper on the process…include the grant proposal – 2 cr. 11-May-17 GATL

Faculty qualification Commitment for leadership development Complete GATL orientation, and agree with GATL philosophy of leadership and its teaching-learning methodology Utilize interactive adult education Empower students for self- and peer-learning Coach at least one student throughout the program Effectively fulfill the learning objectives of the course Don’t impose your doctrine on students Be culturally sensitive and respectful Ensure that the paper qualities are high!!! 11-May-17 GATL

  15. Financial model Cost: $3,000 per cycle including tuition, books, travel, accommodation; 4 cycles How to keep the cost down? Geographic proximity in gathering students, reduce flight costs Combine online 10 days x 4 cycles Scholarships available for Cru staff, other students may raise funds from their companies 11-May-17 GATL

Cost Local transport: $300 Accommodation: $5,360 Books - $440 Tuition - $1,900 (Grading, honorarium, admin, coaching, faculty cost) Travel not included Total: $8,000 $2,000/cycle Average air transport for the entire cycle = $4,500 Total including air transport = $12,500/student 11-May-17 GATL
