  1. Executive Post Graduate Programme in e-Governance (EPGP-EG), 2013-14 Course Name:- Cloud Computing Cloud Computing for Animal Medical Care - Case Analysis Animal Husbandry Department of GoM Presented by GROUP # 1 Pravin Kolhe Monish HaraleMohit Mishra Amit Sharma

  2. PART - I Case Study Analysis

  3. Background • Total number of dogs & cats as companion animals = 1.3 times population of children under 15 year old in Japan. • In a survey* 63% responded pet as a ‘family member’ • This leads to increased risk of infectious disease of animal origin, which might be fatal to humans. • Shortcomings in medical care infrastructure linkage- • Limited records of animal medical care information & that too in paper format. i.e. no digital records. • No standard format & no sharing of information. • No system for extracting information & delivering to the concerned people. * NTT DOCOMO: My docomo premium Questionnaire Results, Questionnaire on Pets.

  4. Business requirements • Business Requirement:- • Night time treatment to pets • Advanced Medical Treatment to pets • Proposed Solution: Cloud Computing for Medical Care • Objective: Construct an information platform that allows cloud computing to be used to input, convert into data, store, extract, aggregate, analyze & display medical treatment information securely shared with the people concerned.

  5. SaaS DaaS BIaaS Community Cloud

  6. Technical landscape-Approach • 1) • Information Input Interface : SaaS Tool • 2) • Information Handling Rules: Business Logic • 3) • Information Processing & Generation of Knowledge & Wisdom • 4) • Secure & Flexible Linking Platform for utilization of information

  7. Drivers for adopting cloud

  8. Key benefits • Over and above the general benefits of cloud, following shortcomings in animal medical care infrastructure linkage can be overcome through Cloud- • Records of animal medical care information can be generated in digital format. • Standard format & Sharing of information • System for extracting information & delivering to the concerned people.

  9. PART - II Cloud Solution for Animal Husbandry Department, GoM

  10. Business Case for cloud-AS is • Inefficient use of resources like-doctors, medicines, financial aid, production, marketing etc. • Information asymmetry for different stakeholders and information silo’s exists in R&D and Agricultural universities. • No sharing of information & no mechanism to collect user’s inputs/requirements. • One Veterinary doctor/assistant for approx. 10 villages (10 doctors in a tehsil, 100 in a district & 3500 in a state) and dept has its own organisational hierarchy. • No integrated digital database of animals in a state which leads to improper scheme design. • No MIS for dept, communication is based on manual system

  11. Stakeholders involved

  12. Requirements • For Animal Husbandry Dept of GoM:- • Aggregation of all sort of data at single location. • Optimum utilization of resources – Doctors posting & disposable medicine distribution • Mechanism for extracting data inputs for decision making • Using BI tools, better scheme design • For Users/Farmers:- • Mechanism for one stop solution to all users. • Easy to use mechanism for providing anytime-anywhere medical treatment information. (Web-based/Call-centre based/Mobile Based)

  13. Business Case for cloud-To be • Development of mechanism for data input, store, extract, aggregate, analyze & database using cloud for prioritized services of AHD. • Standardization of format & Service delivery through web portal/Call Centre/Mobile devices • Centralized mechanism for service delivery. • Cloud Services:- • SaaS:- Frontend + backend system • DaaS:- Data Storage • BPaaS:- Call Centre • BIaaS:- Data Analysis for policy making • Cloud deployment Model:- “Community-Hybrid” • Community:-Restricted access to registered users only. • Hybrid:- Private Cloud for Average Load & Public cloud for non-critical services during peak load.

  14. Proposed architecture SaaS BIaaS DaaS BPaaS

  15. Conceptual solution architecture • Business Architecture Functions • GOVERNANCE • SECURITY • Medicine Info • Disease Info • Doctors info • Schemes Info • Finance Info Process • Extract Data • Analyze Data • Input/Update Data Applications • MIS & BI • AH Information System • Database-Critical • Database-non-critical • Infrastructure • (Sate Data Centre + Public Data Centre, Call Centre, SWAN)

  16. Conceptual governance architecture

  17. Key Drivers

  18. Key BENEFITs • Integration of medical care information sources providing one stop solution for users. • Optimum resource utilization helps in saving in taxpayers money. • Control on diseases is possible due to early detection and identification of affected geographical area is easy using BI tools. • Real time Medical record of each animal • Animal Husbandry department does not have skilled set of manpower, hence outsourcing the IT through Cloud eliminates IT system implementation & maintenance issues. • Low CAPEX required for initiation: Within limited budget fully functional IT is possible by on demand, pay as per use based self servicethrough Cloud. • Building a Social Infrastructure of information, knowledge & wisdom

  19. Key challenges & mitigation plan
