Skyscrapers) • Skyscrapers (Steel structure and elevators allowed for this invention) • 1890-1891 Louis Sullivan builds Wainwright building in St. Louis • Electric Transit (Subways – underground and El Trains – built above ground) • Connected suburbs to city • Suburbs grew rapidly • Bridges brought sections of cities together • Planned parks in cities guaranteed areas for families • Olmsted and Vaux create Central Park in 1857
