Dual qualification – Dip VET Practice and DipTAA • Program designed to provide both MECA compliant Victorian qualification and national qualification • DIP VETP - 11 units (7 core/4 electives) • DIP TAA - 12 units (5 core/ 7 electives) • Effectively two units extra to achieve both qualifications • Individuals can chose to complete both or just the Dip VETP

Program overview • Upgrade to Cert IV in TAA • Program contextualisation • Stakeholder consultations to identify best practice for Swinburne Diploma participants – Swinburne specific Evidence Guide • Evidence Guide is used for self-assessment and Personal Learning Plans (PLP’s) • Program design • Based on data collected from PLP’s • Addresses knowledge and skill requirements of the qualifications • Program implementation and review • Pilot program • Feedback sought from participants, teachers, managers and other stakeholders • Continuous improvement!

Program features • Large numbers involved – 40 – 60 in each intake • Work-based learning groups – action learning methodology ( 10 to 12 per group) • Workshops run by experts (full group) • Online learning materials for each unit – in development • Work-based projects – negotiated with managers and included in Semester Plans • Assessment & learning is closely aligned to participants’ work at Swinburne • Assessment incorporates RPL

Supervised Practicum • Who supervises? • Deemed staff • All managers • Diploma teaching staff • Who records? • Participants use the VPN approved Supervision Record to document all supervision activity • Who manages the process? • Participants are responsible to complete the Supervision requirement • What role do the Diploma staff have? • Support to find supervisors • 5 hours direct supervision as part of facilitation units ( compulsory) • Validation of the Supervision Record • Supervision as requested
