  4. Why did we developa course to train supervisors? • AITS visits Fire, EMS, Wheel Chair Van and Transport vehicle organizations throughout the US • Organizations identified supervisor training as the greatest training need • Classical training development process AITS, Inc. 2006

Organizational Considerations • Municipality – City or County • Private/publicly held company • Volunteer organization • Unions • Federal, State and Local job requirement • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) • Organizations determine the level of supervision and responsibilities • More on this subject later AITS, Inc. 2006

Some Findings • Supervisor jobs are not have well defined • No supervisor training was identified • Responsibility and Accountability unclear • Lack of supervisor skills may cause a higher turnover rate, job dissatisfaction • Standard Operating Procedures are not available to employees, procedures not well defined AITS, Inc. 2006
